It's too early

We had to leave at 6 am this morning to go to Squaw Creek.  That was way too early for Zephyr.  She loves to snuggle in the morning under the covers this time of year.

Here's the rare crane!!!  Made you look.  Actually the sky is filled with snow geese, if you look closely.  We went with Sam & Deb today and had a blast.  Ate a yummy breakfast at Rockport.  It was REALLY, REALLY windy, so I struggled with the lens at 400mm.  Oh well, the swans were really far away anyway.  It was delightful to get to see so many.  I have never seen so many together.  Yeah.

Wine Tasting with Master Sommelier Jesse Becker

Bread & Cup had an event with a local wine shop.  The first 2 pictures were taken with my 60mm lens and I used the LED light reflected off of a small reflector to illuminate the top of the wine bottle.  The rest of the shots were taken with the 24mm TS-E lens.  I had to isolate my people, like Jesse, above for the web.  Everyone else had to be blurry.

Thanksgiving morning

I saw that there was a large front moving through the area this morning when I got up to let the dogs outside.  I'm so thankful for them!  I pulled my winter gear out and made it to the lake before sunrise.  I used my Reverse Grad ND filter for the first time.  Shot in manual with the Grad ND handheld, 10-22 lens at 22, since my 17-55 is in the shop right now.

Sea of leaves

I saw a Bryan Peterson video of raking leaves with a camera attached to your rake.  I put a ND filter on my S95 and gave it a whirl this morning.  Last 2 were with the G11 and built in ND filter.

Haven't yet picked up a leaf, but am having fun playing.

Bottoms up

Just a fun shot from the lake this week.

Family Final Prints

I learned a lot about black and white printing over the weekend.  Thanks to Nicole, I added a little bit of working CS5 knowledge to my brain.  While I did a little processing in CS5, I ultimately converted back to JPEG and printed inside Canon DPP.

Frost at the lake

I went to the lake this morning to look for the wood duck.  All I found was frost.  Oh well, the 100-400 does a fine job of taking leaf pictures as well.

Wood Duck!!!!!

Today I went back to the lake.  I waited until sunrise and then decided to do the slow sneak up on the water trick to see if I could just approach the birds without them flying off.  Oh, I was so super excited when I saw a real, live wood duck swimming around with the mallards.  He didn't much care for the mallards though.

Ott LED Flip Light Fun

I was at Michael's today and saw these little flip lights.  I thought it might work really well for macro photography.  Hmmmm....I think it is a winner!  $11...
